SPAM celebrated its 75th birthday Thursday.

Earlier this year, the processed meat product rolled it its first spokes-character, Sir Can-A-Lot.

Later this month, SPAM-maker Hormel will host a birthday bash in the spiced ham's honor.  The Temptations are expected to headline the event.

SPAM has a rich cultural history.

It was the staple for World War II troops;  it has been featured in a Month Python sketch;  and it even has its own museum.

Hormel turns out 110 million pounds of SPAM in 12 varieties per year.
