'The Bachelorette' Insider: Week 1 Reaction
KITV4 would like to introduce you to our in-house expert on "The Bachelorette," Lauren Wang. During the day, she works in our sales department, but on the nights when "The Bachelorette" is airing, she is glued to the television set. She will keep you up-to-date with the show and give you some inside scoops on what is happening with the Bachelorette herself, Emily Maynard.
The Inside Scoop on Emily Maynard - 5/17/2012
Surprisingly, Emily was extremely nervous throughout the conference call (I’m sure anyone would be though, having over a dozen reporters asking questions in such a short amount of time). She did seem genuine to me and I liked that she answered each question as honest as possible.
Emily said that she gave the first impression rose to Doug because she appreciated that he would leave his son and take a chance on her. She wasn’t impressed with Kalon’s helicopter arrival (Wait, really? I was! Ha ha!) and she said she’d rather someone come in a pickup truck or a skateboard (hmmm, interesting….hello obviously she likes Jef)!
She also clarified that when she meant she was going to be more “reserved” than most of the other Bachelorettes, she simply meant that she wouldn’t go in a hot tub with a guy on a first date so why would she do it on national television? She really opened up to us by saying that she would be willing to move anywhere for her significant other if she knew that he was the right one for her and that it was for forever (lets hope she finds it)!
Emily stated that the producers were so understanding of all her wishes and this is the first season ever where the Bachelorette and her bachelors weren’t filmed in the mansion in Los Angeles. This season was shot in Emily’s hometown, Charlotte, NC, and her favorite room in the mansion -- the rose ceremony room and pool (P.S. both are uber gorg)! Emily also talked about Ricky a lot more than I thought she would. She said she didn’t want Ricky to know anything that was going on. She simply told Ricky that the cameras were there because mommy had to “work” and that in a long, long time from now she would be able to see the “home” video that was being made.
Emily said that this was the perfect time in her life to do "The Bachelorette" and it was the best experience of her life. She said she was able to travel to so many amazing places and she learned so much about herself! Good for her! She did confirm they have finished overnight dates and filming, but she did not confirm whether or not she was engaged (darn)!
Let’s hope Emily finds true love this season!
XOXO~Lauren
