Spreading peace -- that's the mission of some world-renowned leaders visiting Hawaii.
Nobel Peace laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu is among the group called the Elders -- a group created by Nelson Mandela -- which is in the islands to promote peace through dialogue.
They will engage in a series of community discussions, including several targeting youth, all geared to cultivating empathy and justice.
"We will, yes, share stories and wisdom, and hope we can inspire young people to work towards the kind of society that all of us dream of, you know," said Tutu. "Caring, supportive, welcoming."
The Pillars of Peace Hawaii events run from Saturday, Aug. 30 through Sunday, Aug. 31 at the Hawaii Convention Center.
