Firefighters battled a blaze Friday at the iconic Coco Palms hotel on Kauai, officials said.
At least two structures on the property were on fire, according to a spokeswoman for Kauai County. Firefighters from Kaiakea, Lihue and Kapaa were fighting the blaze.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 11:58 a.m. and were able to contain the blaze, according to Mary Daubert, spokeswoman for Kauai County.
Coco Palms is the only hotel that never reopened after being severely damaged by Hurricane Iniki in 1992.
A developer recently announced plans to refurbish the hotel and reopen it.
The hotel was the backdrop for a wedding scene in the Elvis Presley movie “Blue Hawaii.”
