The U.S. Coast Guard is launching a new public service announcement.
Operation Paddle Smart encourages safe boating practices. How? The Coast Guard is offering little orange stickers to people who own a vessel or watercraft.
The stickers provide the Coast Guard with contact information if the craft is found at sea. The use of these stickers to mark the watercraft is part of a voluntary program.
Examples of items that should be marked include surfboards, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, or anything that you can take out in the ocean. The Coast Guard hopes these safe boating practices will save time and money.

Every time the Coast Guard launches a search, the price tag starts in the thousands.
You can get the stickers from boating supply stores, harbor masters and local canoe clubs.
