tanker trucks... Not a good mix -- but it happened today. Good evening, I'm Ashley Moser-- in tonight for Kenny Choi AND Yunji De Nies. KITV4's Brenton Awa is here with more. Brenton? Ashley -- This happened earlier at at Honolulu International Airport -- over at near a hanger off of Lagoon drive. A helicopter was coming in for landing when it ran into a problem. 26-30 48-52 While this helicopter has seen better days... It's passengers know that this scene could've been a lot worse. Dominic Mills-Patrick's hugging his girlfriend just a little bit tighter after getting quite the scare. The chopper he was riding in went down... crashing right next to a fuel truck -- just missing its tank by several feet. He was on the flight back from Moloka'i with another boy and the pilot -- Dr. John Corboy. 1102 - dominic mills-patrick "DR CORBOY HE STARTED TO SAY A FEW THINGS THAT I COULD TELL SOMETHING WAS WRONG SO AFTER SPINNING A FEW TIMES HE PUT US DOWN AND I GUESS HE PUT US DOWN A LITTLE TOO HARD BUT HE LANDED US SAFELY." The two passengers tell us it all happened within a matter of seconds... One moment -- they were coming in for a landing near lagoon drive... And the next -- a gust of wind caught the tail of the chopper and put them into a spin. 954 nic politch "KIND OF JUST, I HOPE WE SURVIVE THIS AND I CAN'T BELIEVE ITS ACTUALLY HAPPENING AND I HOPE WE DON'T HIT THE FUEL TANK." They didn't... Both boys say aside from being shaken up -- none of them were badly hurt -- not even the pilot. What was supposed to be an uneventful trip for the three -- turned into a whirlwind of a story. Those boys told us it was their first time jumping on a helicopter and going to Moloka'i. Even after the crash -- they say they'd do it again. The FAA was also on scene earlier today -- to do its investigation.
