Lanikai's beauty draws hundreds of beachgoers each weekend--But the vehicles that come in are creating headaches for residents. New city and county efforts are designed to give them a break from traffic congestion and illegal parking. KITV4's Nana Ohkawa reports. Some residents say this happens everyday-- Vehicles park on the bikeway leaving little room for bicyclists and pedestrians. It not only pushes people into the middle of the street-but narrows critical road space. Because of that the city and county decided to install more no parking pavement symbols and additional bike lane markings. koloja emerson 132 I THINK IT'S NOT GOOD BECAUSE THERE'S A LOT OF TOURIST AND LOCAL PEOPLE TO COME TO THE BEACH AND 141 THERE'S NO PARKING FOR THEM 143 Joe Bussen 2108 THERE'S ONLY SO MANY PARKING SPACES THERE'S ONLY SO MUCH BEACH THERE'S A LIMIT SO IF YOU WANT TO PARK SOMEWHERE AND THERE'S NO SPACE YOU KNOW WHAT TOUGH 18 To further discourage people from parking or driving on the bikeway that circles lanikai-- the fine has been quadrupled... from a minimum of 35 dollars to a flat fine of 200 dollars. It also has plans to add those signs on the bike lane side of the Lanikai loop.
