The Board of Water Supply says it is getting ready to replace nearly 4,000 feet of water main pipes. This will happen on Kapiolani Boulevard between Date and McCully Street.
Surveyors have already started mapping out the area where trenching will be done.
The Board of Water Supply says it is trying to minimize the project's impact on traffic by notifying motorists ahead of time.
"The 12-inch main along Kapiolani Blvd is a very old system. It was out in over 70 years ago," said Board of Water Supply Spokesperson Jill Kuramoto. "This is actually a pro-active measure the Board of Water Supply is taking to replace this main before it becomes a water main break."
The water main work is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the weekdays and the project will involve lane closures.
