The Stand up paddleboard lane at Ala Moana Beach Park is once again taking shape. D-L-N-R crews were out at the Beach Park today installing new buoys that separate swimmers from standup paddle-boarders. The original buoys were installed four years ago... And some had become saturated with water and failed. Another one is missing. WE HAD ISSUES WITH PEOPLE HANGING ON TO SOME OF THE BUOYS DLNR first installed the buoys to separate swimmers and paddlers as standup paddle-boarding gained in popularity. The department says altercations between the two groups dropped sharply after the buoys were installed.
