Big Island police and National Guard members have been patrolling the hardest hit areas on the Big Island to make sure residents are safe and have the basic necessities.
Blogs and online reports have been lighting up over concerns of possible looting since Tropical Storm Iselle moved through.
The Hawaii County Police Department says the Puna area is already notorious for such crimes. They say there were six burglaries and six theft reports in the area just six days prior to the storm.
There were also six theft cases during the storm, and seven burglaries and 12 thefts reports since the storm.
Officers continue to assist the county and civil defense in monitoring people's safety and making sure they get basic supplies.
