A Nuuanu man claims to have a painting worth up to 40 million dollars. He's tried to prove it for 27 years and now he says he has new evidence. KITV4's Nana Ohkawa has more on the long time art collector. its all new at 6. 20 56 Douglas Himmelfarb is CONVINCED this is the buy of a lifetime. He says 319-dollars bought him an Original painting by artist Mark Rothko. Rothko is an American abstract artist who died in the 1970s. And he has spent the past 27 years trying to prove this is an authentic piece. He's running into roadblocks with art authorities.. 803 THEY FELT THERE IS NO WAY POSSIBLY THAT ANYONE CAN FIND A GENUINE RATHKO FOR 319.50 22 He says forensic work indicates it's the right paint... Some appraisers say it's the right canvas material... and brush strokes.. But HE says finally...he has what marks this painting as authentic.
