It's a story we've been on since the start - the Navy now says workers have found three holes on a tank at the Red Hill fuel storage facility. It says the holes on tank number 5 are not visible to the naked eye. They were found this week during an extensive examination of the tank. INDICATIONS ARE THAT WE, THROUGH THESE PINHOLES, HAVE IDENTIFIED A POSSIBLE SOURCE WHICH COULD HAVE LED TO THE REPORTED 27,000 GALLONS THAT MAY HAVE LEAKED OUT OF THE TANKS. SO SINCE IT'S NOT HOLDING AIR, IT'S PROBABLY NOT HOLDING FUEL. Military contractors are continuing to run tests on the tank to determine exactly how much fuel leaked. They insist despite these discoveries, the drinking water sources in the vicinity continue to meet federal regulatory standards.
