this afternoon. Teens took to the roads this morning at Aloha Stadium, where the parking lot was transformed into an obstacle course, all to teach younger drivers how to navigate the streets safely. The safe driving event aims to curb distracted driving, by teaching drivers about the dangers of multitasking while on the road. Instructors say at this event, it's not the the teens, but parents too, who can learn a lot. 149 THEY REALIZE THAT THEIR BEHAVIORS ARE BEING PATTERNED INTO THEIR CHILDREN, SO WE'RE TRYING TO HELP THEM DO BETTER BEHAVIORS, SO THEY ARE LEARNING QUITE A BIT. A LOT OF THEM DID NOT TAKE DRIVERS ED WHEN THEY WERE CHILDREN, SO IT'S AN EYE OPENING MOMENT. 204 Last year, police issued more than 18-thousand citations for distracted driving. Today's free event was a public private partnership, between the Department of Education, Hawaii Independent Energy and DTRIC Insurance.
