Good evening, I'm Pamela Young... Three years after a victim's bones were discovered, and three decades after he died -- his killer is still unknown. Now clues in this mystery have also gone cold. KITV 4's Paul Drewes explains in tonights top story. A routine excavation for a remodeling project in 2010 turned up something definitely out of the ordinary at this Oahu Ave home. file on jason's tape #1@1:19 "they found a sock that contained a foot and leg" Police then discovered the skeletal remains of a man. Even though he had been shot three times in the back of his head, a forensic artist was able to piece together the rest of his skull to show what he may have looked like before he was murdered. file on jason's tape #1@9:54 "Certain things the skull can tell us like the placement of the eyes, the nose, where the mouth is. Half the battle of a likeness is there already because it tells us where everything is." this reconstruction could be the face of the murder victim .but so could these other looks. Investigators believed he was a caucasian man in his 40s to 50s, ranging anywhere from 5'6" to 6 feet tall... file on jason's tape #2@5:40 His clothes provided other clues. file on jason's tape #1@1:40 "he was wearing Panatella levi pants brown it was a blue shirt, polo type shirt and white tube socks" standup@4:50 on file on jason's tape #2 Another important clue came from a simple coin in a pocket...one found on the victim was from the year 1982. Narrowing down the range of when he could have been killed. file on jason's tape #1@1:56 in his pocket was a coin from 1982. So we believe the range could be from 1982-1989, when the last owner bought the residence All of this information was revealed two years ago, but police are still no closer to solving this case. file on jason's tape #1@3:35 "we asked the public for help and we got a lot of calls come in naming people who were missing. We checked all dead ends" So another plea is going out by police -- for people to take another look at his reconstruction, to see if anyone can bring this decades old murder to a close. file on jason's tape #1@11:48 it just needs to spark that memory and that can lead to a name and hopefully that name will lead to more information paul drewes KITV 4 news If the victim looks familiar...
