The Hawaiian monk seal is one of the rarest marine mammals in the world... And you can help to save them from extinction. Heide Weber from the Monk Seal Foundation joined the KITV4 Morning Crew -- to talk about the The 14th Semi-Annual "Main Hawaiian Islands Monk Seal Count" this Saturday. It's looking for volunteers to help find, count, and identify monk seals around the island. Those rare mammals found ONLY in Hawaii -- with only about 11--HUNDRED left. 5008-26 "OFTEN TIMES IT LEADS US TO FINDING SEALS THAT HAVE INJURIES, OR HAVE BEEN HOOKED, SOMETIMES NEW SEALS THAT WE HAVEN'T SEEN HERE ON THE ISLANDS HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED LET'S SAY, OTHER TIMES THERE WE FIND THE'RE ARE PUPS WE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT."
