After dozens of years guarding ocean goers at Ala Moana Beach Park -- the first woman, full-time city and county lifeguard -- retired today. NATS SINGING MUSIC For 33 years Helene Phillips took care of the beach -- fronting Tower 1-C. She's made more than 100 rescues during her career. Not only did she save people struggling in the ocean -- but she also helped people on land.
