this afternoon ....two buildings were damaged on the property on this Fourth of July holiday. KITV4's pamela young with what we've just learned in our top story at 5. Paula, the call came in to Kauai Fire about noon today. 3 stations responded: Ka-ia-kea, Kapaa and Lihue. It was under control bout 2 hours later. Witnesses say the fire was contained to what's known as Building One, which had already been scheduled for demolition this December. An adjacent structure was also touched by flames. Nearby businesses say the fire may have gone undetected earlier because it appeared to have started in the interior of the property. I STARTED WORK AT 1, 1:30 SO THE FIRE WAS ON ITS WAY. WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN FROM OUR HOUSE IN WAILUA ALL I SAW WAS SMOKE.
