Cat rescued by pig after fire returns home
A cat that was badly burned in a barn fire last month and rescued with the help of a pig is back home.
Gumbo was seriously injured in a fire at Perry Hill Farm in Bedford last month. The 5-year-old feline was in the barn when it caught fire on Sept. 6.
The fire killed 14 horses, and owner Harriet Finks said Gumbo was presumed dead after he couldn't be found for three days.
But she said her 1,000-pound pig Miss Colby went into the woods and located the cat, leading rescuers to his location.
Gumbo was badly burned and needed a month and a half of veterinary treatment, but Finks said he is expected to recover.
She said she's glad to have her cat back, but the family is still struggling to put the farm back together.
