AMC responds in urinating moviegoer case in Leawood, Kan.
Woman says man started to urinate inside auditorium
A woman and her friend said they were pursuing charges against a man they said urinated inside a movie theater at the AMC Town Center 20 megaplex in Leawood.
Angelina Aviles said she and her friend were watching a movie when they realized that a man who appeared to be intoxicated was urinating in the audience.
She said someone told theater management right away, and police escorted the man out.
Aviles said the theater smelled of urine, and the incident ruined her trip to the movies. She said when she and her friend asked for a refund or for tickets to a future show, they were told no.
"It's expensive to see a movie," she said. "It's just not professional to run a business this way. The customer is always right, in most cases. Just the way they handled it, it wasn't professional. It just was unsatisfying in how everything was handled."
But AMC Theaters, responding Monday on Twitter, said customers in the theater were offered passes. The chain said the auditorium was evacuated, closed and professionally cleaned after the incident.
It said Aviles or any other customer who was in that auditorium and did not receive passes should contact the chain's customer service email account at email@example.com
