The National Weather Service has posted a flash flood watch for the entire state until 11 p.m. on Tuesday. This means that conditions are favorable for heavy showers and flooding, especially for windward and mauka areas

Earlier Tuesday, heavy rain drenched windward and central Oahu, which was under a flash flood warning until 8:30 a.m. The Hilo, Puna and Ka`u districts of the Big Island were also under a flash flood warning overnight.

An area of low pressure over the state is responsible for the heavy rainfall. Trade winds are forecast to increase slightly Tuesday night and Wednesday, which should usher in more stable conditions.
