Governor Cayetano is seeking the collective wisdom of Hawaii's people in dealing with the islands' economic crisis caused by last week's terrorist attacks on the mainland.

He wants anyone with an idea to write or message his office through the "Hawaii Rebounds" link on the state or governor's Internet Web site. His office says some of those proposals will be posted on the Web sites.

"Hawaii is facing its worst economic crisis ever, and we need the suppport of everyone in the community to keep Hawaii strong during this time," Cayetano said in a statement.

Cayetano has been meeting with business, labor and government officials to develop a strategy to react to the downturn in the tourist industry that has left Waikiki and other areas looking like ghost towns.

The governor met with legislative leaders and economists Thursday to consider what legislative actions might be proposed in a special session Cayetano says he expects to call next month.

Expected to get priority are the accelerating of state building projects to bolster the state's construction industry and using several special funds to maintain state operations.
