Air Traffic Reopened Across Islands
Overseas Flights Remain Sporadic

HONOLULU -- All airports across Hawaii, except for Kapalua on Maui, have been reopened by the state Department of Transportation and are accepting commercial flights for the first time since Tuesday's hijackings and attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
The state's interisland airlines, Hawaiian and Aloha, are seeking to return to normal schedules. However, mainland and international departures remain sparse with many cancellations.No international flights are being allowed into the state.

Honolulu police, state sheriffs, national guard troops and private security guards have been posted at Honolulu Airport. As part of the stepped-up security, curbside check-in has been eliminated, only passengers will be allowed into boarding areas and cars entering parking garages will be searched.Officials urge all passengers to call their airlines directly before heading to the airport.
