Police arrested a bus driver Monday evening after his tour bus crossed the centerline and collided with an oncoming SUV, killing the man driving in Kahaluu on Monday afternoon, according to authorities.

It happened just before 2:30 p.m. The Roberts Tour bus was heading toward Kaneohe when it crossed the centerline and crashed into a Toyota FJ Cruiser head-on, according to police.

The 42-year-old male driver of the Toyotal was severely injured, according to witnesses.

"I ran over there. I was the first person to the car. I went open the door to see if he was alright. He was unconscious and he was shaking and he had blood coming out of his ears and his chest and he was pinned in there. Like the roof was crashed in on his seat," witness Stanton Vierra said.

The SUV driver, identified as Corey Voss, died at the scene. A friend of Voss told KITV that he is survived by a wife who is pregnant.

The collision sent a Roberts Tour bus careening into the corner of a nearby home. No one in the bus or the house were injured.

Police closed Kamehameha Highway in both directions between Pulama and Waihee roads for hours during the investigation.

The 49-year-old male bus driver was the only person on board the bus at the time. Witnesses said the bus was weaving before the collision. The bus driver refused to take a blood alcohol test at the scene. That's when police arrested him.

"We're placing him under arrest for negligent homicide. We're going to try to interview him," Sgt. Lorenzo Ridela said.

Police took the bus driver to Queen's Medical Center to try to get him to take a blood-alcohol test. Roberts Hawaii attorneys were at Queens Medical Center with the bus driver, trying to block the blood-alcohol test, according to police.

Roberts Hawaii refused to talk to KITV about the crash.
