UPSIDE DOWN... INJURED... AND TRAPPED ... TONIGHT WE'RE GETTING A BETTER IDEA OF WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO BE INSIDE THE GREYHOUND BUS... THAT CRASHED IN LIBERTY TOWNSHIP... THIS WEEKEND. INVESTIGATORS ARE STILL TRYING TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE CRASH THAT INJURED 35 PASSENGERS. WL-WT'S BRIAN HAMRICK LEADING THE WAY... WITH THE FRANTIC 9-1-1 CALLS... MADE BY THE VICTIMS. (Hamrick "the bus remains inside the impound lot... covered with a tarp right now. Investigators have been here... they're not done yet as we learn more about what happened inside this bus in the seconds after the crash.") THE BUS REMAINS UNDER WRAPS... BUT WHAT'S COMING TO LIGHT IS THE CHAOS IN THE MOMENTS AFTER THE CRASH... (caller "we're all bleeding, please help us.") ...AS PASSENGERS BEGIN TO CALL 911. (caller "and we can't get the emergency doors open.") (caller "we're all injured, we rolled. The bus rolled.") PEOPLE ARE CLEARLY DISORIENTED... AFTER THE BUS VEERED OFF THE ROAD... PASSENGERS FOUND THEMSELVES UPSIDE DOWN IN THE DARKNESS AT 3:50 SATURDAY MORNING. AND THE CONFUSION CREATES PROBLEMS FOR DISPATCHERS. (911 "how many people were on the bus, do you know?" caller "it was a full bus." 911 "it was a full bus?" caller "absolutely full, every seat.") EVEN FINDING THE CRASH SITE IS A PROBLEM. (caller "Does anybody know where we're at? No and the bus driver is not coherent at all. Please help us, please help us.") THE BUS DRIVER IS ... DWAYNE GARRETT OF CINCINNATI. WE WENT TO HIS ADDRESS... NO ONE ANSWERED. POLICE HAVE INTERVIEWED HIM BUT STILL DON'T KNOW WHY HE WENT OFF THE ROAD. HE'S SUBMITTED A BLOOD TEST AND IS ON LEAVE THROUGH THE INVESTIGATION. MEANWHILE... INSPECTION TEAMS WILL BE CHECKING FOR MECHANICAL ISSUES WITH THE BUS AND FEDERAL INVESTIGATORS WILL ALSO BE KEEPING TRACK OF THE PROGRESS. (Hamrick "greyhound tells us the bus driver in this case has what they call a clean record ... and he's been with them for 15 years. Brian Hamrick... wlwt...news five.") GREYHOUND OFFICIALS WOULDN'T SAY THE DRIVER WAS ON HIS NORMAL SCHEDULE WHEN HE CRASHED... BUT THEY DO SAY DRIVERS ------TEND TO KEEP THE SAME SCHEDULE.
