Residents Urged To Submit Designs For State's Quarter

What would you like to see on Hawaii's state quarter? If you have an opinion, the U.S. Mint wants to hear about it.

George Washington will still be featured on the "heads" side of the quarter, but the mint is looking for a Hawaii design for the "tails" side as part of its 50 States Commemorative Coin Program.

Designs that have been chosen for other states include state landmarks, landscapes, historic buildings and state icons. The mint won't accept designs including the state flag or seal, or images of any person living or dead.

You can send your ideas in narrative form to the Hawaii Commemorative Quarter Advisory Commission, P.O. Box 2359, Honolulu, HI 96804. You can also fax your idea to (808) 586-2370. People interested in submitting designs can also go online to the commission's Web site.

Ideas are due by April 30.
