Part 3: Exploring Kilauea
Part 4: Rounding 'Em Up On Parker Ranch
People like Willie Kaupiko, who lives in Milolii on the southern tip of the Big Island, the site of one of the few remaining traditional Hawaiian fishing villages. Willie lives like generations of Native Hawaiians before him, living off the land and sea.
There's also the Toko family in beautiful Waipio Valley on the Hamakua Coast. Two generations together grow some of the best taro and make some of the finest poi that Hawaii has to offer. It is truly a labor of love.
Gary Sprinkle also spends a day with one of the most renown paniolo of the historic Parker Ranch, Sonny Keakealani. To watch Sonny work the cattle is to watch one of the best in the business.
And you can't talk about the Big Island without mentioning its grand and still evolving volcanoes. Geophysicist Jim Kauahikaua spends many a day and night walking around Kilauea Volcano, learning about what makes it tick.
Join Gary as he uncovers a few of the treasures of the Big Island.
