Two men accused of making and setting off a homemade bomb at the beginning of the year that injured a young girl were charged with the crime Thursday.

Joelson Ea and Marc Bantolina both pleaded not guilty to charges of assault, reckless endangering, possessing a homemade bomb and criminal property damage.

Last year's New Year's Eve blast in Aiea broke Cydnee Somera's bones and cut her tendons, nerves and an artery.

Fireworks go on sale Monday and the Somera family hopes what happened to Cydnee doesn't happen to anyone else.

"I would say, like, 'Don't do it again.' And if anybody, like their friends, are going to do it just say 'Don't do it,'" Cydnee said.

"Just be very careful and be safe especially have more concern for your fellow man than for yourself," Cydnee Somera's father, Sid, said.

Ea and Bantolina's court date is set for February.
