Fire destroyed a warehouse on Kauai Thursday night.

The fire broke out at about 6:30 p.m. on Crossley Road in Wailua.

The fire started when the resident owner failed to check for hot spots after burning weeds with a propane torch, Kauai fire officials said.

Three engines responded to the fire, which destroyed an entire warehouse and charred a nearby garage.

Residents in nearby homes were forced to evacuate, but no other homes were damaged. No one was injured.
