Honolulu police, fire and Coast Guard crews searched all day Thursday for a missing surfer off the Waianae coast.

It's been two days since Dustin Gabel, 36, was last seen surfing off Yokohama Bay. A lifeguard Thursday saw Gabel's van still parked there and alerted police.

"Dustin's belongings were found in the van. We initiated a missing persons alert," Detective Phil Camero said.

So far, rescuers have covered 1,300 nautical miles.

Gabel is originally from Colorado. He is 6 feet tall, 150 pounds with blond hair.

He was last seen on a white, 9-foot longboard wearing light-colored shorts.

The Coast Guard will determine whether to continue the search Friday.
