Teams Scour Waters Off Waianae For Missing Surfer

HONOLULU -- Honolulu police, fire and Coast Guard crews searched all day Thursday for a missing surfer off the Waianae coast.It's been two days since Dustin Gabel, 36, was last seen surfing off Yokohama Bay. A lifeguard Thursday saw Gabel's van still parked there and alerted police."Dustin's belongings were found in the van. We initiated a missing persons alert," Detective Phil Camero said.So far, rescuers have covered 1,300 nautical miles.Gabel is originally from Colorado. He is 6 feet tall, 150 pounds with blond hair.He was last seen on a white, 9-foot longboard wearing light-colored shorts.The Coast Guard will determine whether to continue the search Friday.
