Hawaii TV Stations, Entertainers Unite In Kokua For Katrina

Organizers of the Kokua for Katrina concert have announced that two hours of the spectacular will be broadcast live and simultaneously on Hawaii’s major television network affiliates this Sunday, September 18, between 4 and 6 p.m. The concert is a benefit to raise money for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

Viewers will be able to watch the concert on KFVE, KGMB, KHNL, KHON, KITV, PBS and OC16.

Featuring some of Hawaii’s most popular entertainers, the Kokua for Katrina concert will take place Sunday from 3 p.m. to midnight at Kapono's in the Aloha Tower Marketplace. Concert headliners include Grammy award-winning musician Charles Brotman and local favorites C&K, Kalapana, Willie K. & Eric Gilliom, Inoa Ole, the Opihi Pickers, Amy Gilliom and many more.

Proceeds from ticket sales and food and beverage sales will benefit the American Red Cross Hawaii Chapter for use in hurricane relief efforts.

Concert tickets are $30 and can be bought at any Ticketmaster outlet, Ticketmaster.com, Star Markets, Blaisdell box office, BYU box office or by calling Kapono's restaurant directly at (808) 536-2161. All ages are welcome until 9 p.m. From 9 p.m. until midnight, the concert will turn into a 21-and-over event.
