ACLU of Hawaii has filed a class-action lawsuit against Honolulu County and the state on behalf of two men denied the opportunity to apply for government jobs.

Both Kevin Walsh and Blaine Wilson were told not to apply because each of them maintains a legal residence in Florida, ACLU officials said.

Hawaii ACLU director Lois Perrin said such residency restrictions are unconstitutional.

Both the state attorney general's and the Honolulu corporation counsel's offices had no comment on the case.
