Former Liquor Commission Inspectors Sentenced To Prison

HONOLULU -- Three former Honolulu Liquor Commission inspectors will serve time in federal prison on extortion and racketeering charges.A judge sentenced Arthur Andres to 65 months in prison. He was convicted of taking bribes from bar owners in return for overlooking violations.Harvey Hiranaka was sentenced to 60 months in prison. He was also charged with bribery and extortion. Eduardo Mina faced the same charges. He was sentenced to 41 months in prison.A total of eight former Liquor Commission investigators have been convicted, following a joint investigation by the FBI and the Honolulu Police Department.
