Authorities evacuated several homes Tuesday night after a woman found a military device on her property.

Authorities said the object could be a vial that contains dangerous chemicals. Earlier, officials indicated the objects were military ordnance.

Parts of Wilhelmina Rise remained cordoned off Wednesday morning.

Honolulu Fire Department Hazardous Materials crews and police were called to 1611 Pa'ula Drive at around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The woman found the object in the basement of her house, police said. Her husband was in the military and kept a lot of things in the basement, KITV 4 News was told.

The woman found the object and thought it looked odd and called the authorities. Inside they found vials containing liquids.

A military specialist is being flown from the mainland to identify the object.

Roads were closed but were reopened late Tuesday. Officials warn that people passing by the area to stay away and keep upwind of the house.
