Maui Man Found Shot To Death On Hiking Trail

Maui police are investigating the homicide of a man whose body was found with gunshot wounds on a hiking trail off Kahekili Highway.

A hiker discovered the body near Nakalele Point in the Kahukoloa area Saturday afternoon.

Investigators say the man died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said the victim is 44-years-old. He was a homeless man from Lahaina. Authorities are not releasing his name until relatives have been notified.

Police said the man was killed between 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve and noon on New Year's Day.
