Poker Terms
Action - a fold, call, bet, check or raise
All In - placing all of a player's chips in on a bet
Ante - starting bet for all players
Bet - placing a wager into the pot
Blind - required bet before cards are dealt
Board - table
Bottom pair - pairing lowest card on the board
Button - player in the dealer position
Check - passing on option to bet
Community cards - cards face up on the table that can be used by all players
Cut - to divide cards for dealing
Drawing Dead - drawing to a hand that cannot win
Face card (picture card) - king, queen, jack
Flop - three community cards flipped first in hold'em or Omaha
Flush - five cards of the same suit
Full House - hand consisting of three of a kind and a pair
Heads up play - two players involved in a play
Kicker - highest unpaired card
Muck - to discard a hand (fold)
No-limit - where players can bet all of his/her chips
Outs - ways a player can improve on his/her hand
Raise - to place more chips in a wager over the existing bet
Stack - chips in front of a player
Short stack - player with the least amount of chips
Straight - five cards in consecutive order
Straight flush - five cards in consecutive order and the same suit
Top pair - pairing the highest card on the board
