Orangutan Rusti Gets Funding For New Home

HONOLULU -- The Honolulu Zoo's orangutan, Rusti, has received some much-needed money for his new home.The Big Island's Chelsey Foundation donated $100,000 to build a new enclosure for the primate."To make sure that we have a better environment and a better home for Rusti. We're really, really pleased today," city Managing Director Ben Lee said.Last month, the Honolulu City Council approved construction of a new habitat for Rusti, making him a permanent resident of the zoo.Groundbreaking is scheduled for Nov. 1. The new enclosure is expected to be completed by the beginning of next summer.
