Schofield Army Spc. Ramon Ojeda was remembered in services in Iraq Friday.

Ojeda was killed when his convoy came under attack last weekend.

Both Ojeda and his wife, Leslie, were deployed to Iraq in January of this year. They left behind a 14-month-old son.

Ojeda's father said he is proud of his son's sacrifice.

He said ever since Ramon Ojeda was little, he had wanted to joined the military to follow in his father's footsteps. Ojeda signed up when he was 17 and had re-enlisted for a second term.

"I raised him and taught him morals and principals and I taught him to be on his own -- pull his own weight -- which he did," Joaquin Ojeda said.

Joaquin Ojeda said his son's death was a loss not just for his family but for the entire country.

Funeral services will be held in California next week Tuesday.
