Missing Maui Hiker Found With Minor Injuries

WAILUKU, Hawaii -- A 58-year-old man who was reported missing after hiking the Halemauu Trail on Haleakala on Maui was found Monday, according to Maui County fire officials.The man, Peter Meyers from New Jersey, was reported missing on Sunday. At 8 p.m. Sunday, emergency crews were dispatched and began a search for the missing hiker.The search was suspended at 11:30 p.m. Sunday.Meyers made his way out through the Kaupo Gap trail at around 9:20 a.m. Monday where a motorist saw him and picked him up on Piilani Highway.Meyers suffered minor bumps and scrapes, according to fire officials.
