ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -

Ava Casias isn’t just any 2-year-old -- born with Profound Hearing Loss, Casias was referred to the Presbyterian Ear Institute, where she would be given a shot at hearing.

Two Cochlear implants were surgically attached to the back of her head.

Now the only difference between Casias and other 2-year-olds is those implants. Since the procedure, Casias has been more excited about talking and playing with her cousin.

Mercedes Benz of Albuquerque is sponsoring a tournament benefiting PEI, that will be held at the Sandia Golf Club.

It’s $500 for a two-person team, and the winners will compete in Hawaii in November.

The deadline to enter is Aug. 20, space permitting. The tournament will be held Friday, Aug. 23, at 1 p.m.
