Hawaii County fire officials say a two-car crash on Highway 19 closed the road in both directions in Pepe'ekeo Thursday afternoon.

Fire crews responded to the scene at the 9 mile marker just before 2 p.m.
Police said a Toyota Camry was headed north out of Hilo and a Ford flatbed truck was headed south toward Hilo. The Camry crossed the center line and hit the truck, according to investigators.
The 54-year-old male driver of the Camry was taken to Hilo Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Police identified him as Colin Y. Ishii of Pepe'ekeo.
An 82-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Camry, was transported to Hilo Medical Center. She did not receive any significant injuries.
The 29-year-old man driving the truck was not injured, but taken to the hospital for a blood draw. A blood draw is standard procedure in deadly crashes.
Police say it does not appear that speed, alcohol or drug were involved in the crash.
