Police Arrest Man In Kailua Fire-Stabbing CaseSuspect Found At Pali LookoutPOSTED: 9:45 pm HST April 6, 2004 HONOLULU -- Police Tuesday captured the man they believe is responsible for stabbing two women in Kailua and setting them on fire. The 20-year-old son of one victim was arrested late Tuesday afternoon after a manhunt was launched Monday night.Police said Micah White was arrested at the Pali lookout Tuesday afternoon. They said he didn't put up a fight. They wouldn't elaborate on why he was up there or how they found him.White was identified by family members as the person responsible for Monday's fire and stabbing that left his mother and aunt in critical condition, police said. The fire destroyed the family home on Kainui Drive in Kailua.Police are not saying why they think White would try to kill his mother and aunt but, sources said White is an ice addict and lately became moody and alienated from his family.Police said White surrendered at the Pali Lookout at about 2:45 p.m. He was arrested by the Kaneohe Crime Reduction Unit.White was arrested on two counts of attempted murder and one count of criminal property damage. Just last month, he was arrested at the University of Hawaii for criminal trespassing and resisting arrest. The state Health Department was also called to the Kainui Drive home to remove some hazardous materials. Authorities said the family owned a pool supply business and had been storing hundreds of pounds of pool chemicals in the garage. They said vapors from the chemicals could cause respiratory problems."The concern is inhalation hazard. In other words, breathing it in. It's not something you eat, walk in, not something you get on your skin. It's something that affects your lungs," said Mike Crips of the Department of Health. The DOH said the pool chemicals were disposed of properly and are no longer a potential hazard.
