Police Charge 2 Men With Murder On Golf CourseAuthorities Say Gambling Debt Led To ShootingsPOSTED: 9:50 am HST January 10, 2004 KANEOHE, Hawaii -- Prosecutors say one of the men shot to death on the Pali Golf Course Wednesday told police before he died the names of the two men who shot him.On Friday, police charged Ethan Motta and Rodney Victor Joseph with one count of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder in the shootings, which sources say were caused by a gambling dispute. The suspects are each being held on $1 million bail.In court papers, prosecutors say the shooting victims identified their assailants by name to police officers as they were being treated at the scene. Sources say the men who were shot had complained they were not getting paid enough money to provide security for illegal gambling operations on Oahu.Police are still searching for Kevin Alpino Gonsalves, 33, who is also considered a suspect in these shootings. Gonsalves has a record of 14 convictions, including misdemeanor theft, harassment and drug charges.Another man, Nixon Maumalanga, had been arrested, but was later released after being charged with some outstanding traffic cases, but was not charged with murder.
