You could be ringing in the New Year with a huge payday.
 SURVEY
The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday night's drawing will be worth an estimated $210 million. Will you buy tickets?
Yes. I always buy Powerball tickets.
Yes, but I only buy tickets with a big jackpot.
No. I'll wait for a bigger jackpot.
No. I never buy Powerball tickets.

The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday night's drawing will be worth an estimated $210 million.

No ticket holders matched all the numbers drawn Saturday evening.

A person who matches all five numbers and the Powerball would have a choice between a one-time cash payout or annual payments over 30 years.

But before you dream about the all the wonderful gifts you can buy yourself with that much cash, you might want to take stock in reality. The odds of winning it all are very slim.

Nevertheless, office pools will be forming and ticket machines will be humming in the meantime.

Powerball is played in the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and 23 states (Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, West Virgina, Wisconsin).

Mega Millions Has Huge Jackpot, Too

Hopes of a huge payoff are still alive among lottery players in 11 states -- and they're growing.

The jackpot for the Mega Millions game is expected to be at least $155 million for Tuesday night's drawing.

And the executive director for the Virginia Lottery, which takes part in the game, says if there's no winner Tuesday -- the prize could be as much as $200 million or more by the next drawing on Friday.

Penny Kyle said ticket sales are brisker than expected.
