HONOLULU -- The daughter of former union leader Gary Rodrigues was sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison Tuesday. In a scheme set up by her father, Robin Rodrigues Sabatini received more than $200,000 from the United Public Workers Union and its insurance companies, prosecutors said. The government said she did little or no work for that money.Sabatini's defense argued that she was dominated by her father to the point that she couldn't refuse to participate.Judge David Ezra agreed resisting her father might have been difficult, but he said she was an educated professional who should have called a halt to the scheme. In addition to her 46-month sentence, Sabatini must help her father pay $377,000 in restitution. Sabatini and her father will both remain free while their case is appealed.
