HONOLULU -- Orly Maor is a wholesale jeweler who said she usually never goes shopping while she has her merchandise in the car. On Wednesday she thought just doing a few quick errands wouldn't be a problem but now she's out at least $250,000.The Nordstrom Rack parking lot at Ward Center is where Maor said she met her client at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday."Me and my client were standing here," Maor said standing next to her Chevy Tahoe with the trunk open. "There was the two luggages (sic) here. I opened one luggage because I know where I put her stuff and I took it out and showed it to her. She looked at some rings and she said, 'Ok, I'll just take this.' She pulled out her wallet and paid me, then I closed and locked the car and went in."Maor's entire inventory of gold and silver jewelry was kept in two big black suitcases in the trunk of her SUV. Maor said she was only in Nordstrom Rack for about 20 minutes. She thinks it's where the suitcases full of jewelry was stolen, but she's not exactly sure. That's because Maor also stopped at the Ben Franklin store in Kaimuki at about 4:15 p.m., then the Ross' store in Hawaii Kai at around 4:45 p.m. before she got home and realized the jewelry was gone."I was freaking out. My heart stopped beating almost," said Mayor.Maor has owned her wholesale jewelry business for 13 years. Several gold rope chains, that wholesale for $6,000 apiece, are among the stolen items."It's unbelievable. It's the only business I have and the only income that I have. Now I have no income," said Maor.Detectives said the car has no sign of a break-in. They're now scouring through surveillance video at Ward Center and the Hawaii Kai Shopping Center with the hopes of finding a suspect. But police said there are no fingerprints, no witnesses, and no leads."It wasn't the right thing to leave it here even for 15 minutes, but I guess I didn't suspect something like this was going to happen," said Maor.Honolulu police said Ward Center security has surveillance video of a man looking into the back of the car, but they don't have video of anyone taking anything out of the car.If you have any information that might help in this case, you're asked to call Crimestoppers at 808-955-9300.
