A 68-year-old woman was critically injured on Tuesday afternoon after she crashed her sport utility vehicle into a concrete barrier at the Bishop Museum, Honolulu police said.

The woman's SUV drove through a chain-link fence near the museum's entrance and continued across the museum's lawn, police said. She then crashed into a concrete wall along the freeway and it flipped into an embankment.

A 4-year-old boy was also in the car. Officials said he was last listed in serious but stable condition.

Witnesses told police the driver was seen speeding and may have experienced mechanical failure before the crash.
