Sheriffs Say Man Tried To Hit Deputies With Car

HONOLULU -- State deputy sheriffs fired three or four rounds into the driver's side of a car driven by a man who was trying to run them down, Department of Public Safety officials said.The shooting happened at about 9:30 a.m. on Kalukalu Street in Waipahu as the deputies were trying to serve a $100,000 warrant on Kevin N. Pacheco, Deputy Public Safety Director James Propotnick. The warrant was for eight separate charges including drug and firearm violations and forgery, he said.Propotnick said sheriff deputies and police are "aggressively" trying to find Pacheco.Neither deputy was hurt and it is not clear whether Pacheco was hit.

Police found Pacheco's vehicle on Kahaulua Street. A witnesses told police that Pacheco had gotten into a white flatbed pickup truck driven by another man.
