A man died in car crash on Nimitz Highway on Wednesday night.

The crash happened at the intersection near the Nimitz Business Center at North Nimitz Highway just after 9:45 p.m.

A white Toyota Camry had the green light at the intersection and was turning onto the westbound lanes on Nimitz Highway when a red Mazda Miata, driven by the victim, ran the red light and struck the car, Honolulu police said.

"The driver of the red Miata was pronounced dead -- a 38-year-old male. The driver of the white Camry, 66-years-old, is in serious condition," Honolulu Police Department Maj. Thomas Nitta said.

This was the third traffic fatality on Oahu this week.

A 57-year old man died after he was hit by a car near Kaneohe Monday night. On Sunday, an 11-year-old boy in Waimanalo died in a car crash that witnesses say was caused by racers.
