The family of a missing Maui woman has hired a Texas company to help in their search.

RP Search Services used a drone aircraft Saturday, to take high resolution photos of the areas where Laura Vogel was last seen. “We use these high resolution images to analyze targets on the ground. If we see anything of interest on the ground, we’ll send in individuals to go and clear that target and determine if it’s relevant or not,” said Gene Robinson, of RP Search Services.

The drone helped guide Sunday’s ground search for Vogel. “The family still believes that people still have information,” said Vogel’s brother Tim Vogel. “Whoever has information, please come forward.”

Maui police said they questioned a person of interest in the case. Detectives talked to a man whose cell phone was the last number dialed from Vogel’s phone. According to police, the man claimed he does not know Vogel and that his phone was stolen before she disappeared.

Just before Vogel’s disappearance, she sent a text message to a friend saying she was “meeting with the locals” in the Pauwela Lighthouse area on Maui’s North Shore.

She has not been heard from since.

If you have any information on this case, call Maui police or the private tip line at 888-524-0218.
